The Sens had
Luke Richardson on a tryout contract in the pre-season and they felt that Richardson could bring enough to the team on a semi-regular basis, so they signed him to a one-year, two-way contract on Saturday. It looks like Richardson will have some of the sixth or seventh man duty on the blueline for the Sens.

Also before heading to Europe this weekend, the Sens cut five more players from their active roster, including forward
Brad Isbister and defenseman
Brendan Bell, both of whom, were thought to have in roads to the line-up to start the season. Quite obviously, they didn't use those in roads well and they will be left in North America while the team opens the season.
The Senators have now reported that they have 25 players left on the roster and it should look something like this:
Forwards | Defense | Goaltenders |
Jason Spezza | Filip Kuba | Martin Gerber |
Daniel Alfredsson | Christoph Schubert | Alex Auld |
Dany Heatley | Chris Phillips | Brian Elliot |
Antoine Vermette | Anton Volchenkov
Mike Fisher | Jason Smith
Dean McAmmond | Luke Richardson
Chris Neil | Alexandre Picard
Jarkko Ruutu | Brian Lee | |
Shean Donovan | | |
Nick Foligno | | |
Chris Kelly | | |
Cody Bass | | |
Jesse Winchester | | |
Zack Smith | | |
Jim McKenzie | | |

Even with 25 players on the roster, the Sens leave with a solid team well under the cap at approximately $55.5 million. Of course, when they return from Europe, there should be a couple extra cuts made, likely to
Brian Elliot and
Jim McKenzie to keep the team at 23 players, so don't be looking at them for your pool team.
An interesting name to be looking at will be
Jesse Winchester, who may start on the team's top line and provide a good sleeper pick to your pool team, especially if he can stay up with the big club all year. Playing with
Jason Spezza and
Dany Heatley is sure to give Winchester all sorts of points.
