All the series have started now... the playoffs are now in full swing. Last night, there was quite a bit of scoring and even an injury or two.

But thanks to a big night from a not listed rookie, Wojtek Wolski, the Avalanche scored 5 unanswered goals to beat the Stars, in Dallas, to take a 1-0 series lead. Jose Theodore got the win for the Avalanche, while Rob Blake netted the winning goal and got the bonus point.

Patrik Elias had two goals and four assists in the Devils' 6-1 romp over the Rangers. Jamie Langenbrunner (a more popular pick, 10 teams) had a goal and three assists, while Scott Gomez had the game-winning goal and 2 assists to take a big advantage in the series. Martin Brodeur, the East-favourite goalie came up with the 2 points with the win. Jaromir Jagr (star of 11 teams), was helped to the dressing room after taking a swipe at Scott Gomez and missing. He is out with a suspected shoulder or elbow injury. His status is unknown for Game 2.

Other injury news for this series, Colin White is only 50/50 to go in Game 2 as he had missed Game 1 with a groin injury.

Alexei Kovalev had a pair of goals & an assist and Sheldon Souray added another tally. The bonus point was not handed out in this game, as Radek Bonk scored the winner. There was also no Carolina Hurricane points, as Matt Cullen scored an unassisted goal 50 seconds into the first.

Ryan Miller was chosen as the Sabres starting goalie over Martin Biron, and got the 2 points for the win. Jay McKee and Simon Gagne scored the other two point-getting goals in the pool in the game. Other point-getters in the game were Brian Campbell, Jochen Hecht, Eric Desjardins and Peter Forsberg.

Image hosted by Photobucket.comWade Redden has left the Ottawa Senators to head home to be with his family after his mother had passed away. He will be unavailable to the Sens and the 10 teams that have picked him in the pool for possibly a few games. This might be a huge impact to all the Senators hopes against the Lightning as Redden is a cornerstone of the defense corps in Ottawa.
