Game 1 is in the books for 4 series... the playoffs have officially begun. I didn't think I'd get to this update right away, but I'm up nice & early, so that's why you see it first thing this morning. Just a quick note on the Standings, you'll see two columns throughout the playoffs, maybe one or two more, if I feel up for it or not. Obviously, you have the team name, the number of points you have gained from your picks and finally, how many players you have left playing in this years playoffs. When teams are eliminated, you'll see these numbers go down. When your team has zero players left, that means you can't get any more points. It's as simple as that.

Down at the bottom of every post, there is a comment section. You can cheer for your team, jeer your opponents and just have a good time with it. Use it, it's fun for everyone!

And now for a small recap of what happened last night...

Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com A double-overtime thriller saw the Red Wings come back to beat the Oilers 3-2. Manny Legace got the win for the Red Wings, which only 3 teams in the pool counted 2 points for last night. Sadly, Kirk Maltby and Robert Lang were not included on the picking sheet, so the three points (including the bonus point for the winner) for Maltby were not available to anyone.

The 2-1 score didn't generate many points for the Flames fans that want a ton of scoring, but Miikka Kiprusoff got his two points good and early to justify 23 teams picking him up.

Chris Mason, who is on the sheet, earned the victory for the Predators while Paul Kariya picked up 4 assists in the process and pool Predator favourite, Mike Sillinger picked up a goal and an assist for two key points. The Predator game winner was by Adam Hall, who is not on the list. You'll see players names in bold if they were on the list to be chosen. Joe Thornton was not quiet either... he had a goal and an assist in the Sharks loss, which earns him a mention this morning.

Ray Emery was credited with the win, stopping 44 shots, and added an assist (which counts). Dany Heatley added two assists to his cause, as did Peter Schaefer.

It is expected to climb to the 40-team mark, which will make this super-competitive through the season.
