The Washington Capitals are in the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff race, sitting one point out of the last wild card spot, and they continued their chase against the Sabres on Thursday night. Forward Brooks Laich was held out of the line-up in the key match-up, as the groin problem that has been bothering him all year long, sidelined him again. It sounds like Laich went home early to get things checked out and his status for their next game, Saturday at home to the Phoenix Coyotes is questionable, at best.
Looks like Allan may be down another man for a little bit, but he does have a 13-point lead going into the weekend, as both Stacey C. and Chris have faltered this week, trying to keep him within striking range.
