Goalie Announcements (Apr 7)

NHL debut alert! Wait, I'm doing that now? I guess so. Charlie Lindgren (non-pool) will get his first NHL start and appearance for the Montreal Canadiens tonight, as they visit the Carolina Hurricanes in a meaningless game for both teams.  His first test will be Cam Ward (Neil), which could be a tough one for the NCAA grad.

Jeremy's lead is now 12 points and his pool MVP candidate, Braden Holtby of the Capitals, will get the start tonight, still chasing down an NHL record, taking on the Pittsburgh Penguins.  At the other end, it should be Matt Murray (non-pool), who the Pens may have to lean on, once they get into the playoffs at this point.  Oh, and that's not all!  Jeremy will also get a start from Al Montoya of the Panthers, as he gets the call for the Ottawa Senators, who will start Craig Anderson at the other end.  Anderson, belonging to John P., is still somewhat hopeful of a 3rd place finish, but this isn't a slam dunk win for him, as Montoya has been good.

Brenda & Seward will have to lean heavily on another huge start for Jonathan Quick and the Kings, as they are in tough with a divisional opponent in the Anaheim Ducks, who will go with their potential number one in the playoffs, John Gibson (Clayton).  This game has division title implications, so we should get a good one out of these two, in theory.

Brian is not conceding 3rd place this week, as his team is among the tops in the week in scoring, definitely better than his stalkers for the spot.  Unfortunately, his crease is left unoccupied, with neither of his keepers going.

Kristy & Don, now 9 points back of 3rd, may not have any help tonight, as the Panthers are opting for their back-up and the Avalanche may be doing the same, as it appears that Calvin Pickard (non-pool) will get the call against the Stars, who are going with Kari Lehtonen (Dale C.).

As for John P., his team starts the evening 13 points back and we've already touched on his only goalie start.

Still texting me, saying he has a shot, is Ryan, whose team will start the night 15 points back of 3rd place... he gets one start tonight, as Pekka Rinne will play host to the Arizona Coyotes tonight, who are going with Mike Smith (Dale B.) in their net.  Not an easy task for the Predators, who are locked up in the first wild card spot in the West.  The Coyotes are playing like they have nothing to lose, so Ryan better have all his fingers and toes crossed.

In the Mover & Shaker section of the pool, we have a different leader, of sorts, in John S., who has 16 points this week, tops among the poolies.  His team has a 1-point lead over Eric's team, but likely won't have a start tonight, as Martin Jones (Scott) will get the call for the Sharks, with the Jets in town.  Ondrej Pavelec (Stuart) will get the call for the Jets tonight in the late game on the docket.

Eric, on the other hand, will have both of his goalies going tonight, in an effort to take the last Mover & Shaker of the season.  Thomas Greiss is scheduled to go for the Islanders on Broadway, taking on Henrik Lundqvist (Derek & Dan) and the Rangers, while Scott Darling continues to get starts for the Blackhawks; tonight, he's taking on Brian Elliott (Grant) and the Blues.  Both of Eric's goalies have their hands full tonight.

Buckle up for a good ride, we have a bunch of good games on the go this evening.
