On Friday, the San Jose Sharks made two key re-signings, giving both Melker Karlsson and Joonas Donskoi new deals. Karlsson earned a 3-year, $6 million deal and Donskoi picked up a 2-year, $3.8 million deal before the week was out, both being saved from restricted free agency.
Both players were outside of the top 200 in pool scoring for forwards, but both were inside the top 300, making them good fringe players. Karlsson had 22 points in 67 games and Donskoi was 17 points in 61 games, both having to deal with various injuries in the campaign, limiting their value. Donskoi was taken in the draft this year and was subsequently dropped at the second swap, while Karlsson wasn't mentioned at all this year.
Both have potential to sneak into pool conversations and will sit well on the fringe, if you're looking for sleeper picks at next season's draft.
