Off-Season Injury Notes (May 16)

In his post-elimination press conference, Edmonton GM Peter Chiarelli announced that defenseman Andrej Sekera suffered a torn ACL in the series against Anaheim and his recovery time will be substantial, in the 6-to-9 month range.  In either scenario, or somewhere in between, the 30-year old Slovak will not be returning to the Oilers lineup until well into the 2018 regular season.

This will take a good chunk of potential offense out of the Oilers' lineup to start the season, as Sekera finished the 2017 season with 8 goals and 35 points in 80 games, good enough for 43rd among all defenders in pool scoring.  Might be a good idea to avoid him at the draft and revisit his participation in the draft until you can swap players.
