Bruins Split Their Home Games, Win a Barn Burner

In my preview on Monday night, I had said that the Bruins would have to be that desperate team and that's exactly what they were on Tuesday night.

I had also made mention that the Bruins would want to get the jump on the Lightning, but that wasn't the case, as Tampa jumped on them really early, scoring 13 seconds into the game and putting the home team on their heels.  Still, the Bruins were not deterred, especially going into the 2nd down 2-1.

Non-pool player Tyler Seguin has finally stepped into the limelight in this series, taking over for the injured Patrice Bergeron, as he scored a beauty in Game One and unleashed in Game Two, scoring a pair of goals and adding a pair of assists in the middle frame, helping his team finish the 2nd with a 6-3 lead.  Seguin was not slotted into a roster position on a regular basis down the stretch of the regular season, which was why he was omitted from the sheet and since his first playoff game was Game One of this series, he would have missed a whole lot of hockey for any owners thus far.

It wasn't one of the most picturesque games in Tim Thomas' career and despite giving up a pair of goals in the 3rd period, he still came away with 36 saves and the 6-5 win.

Time to go over the pool scoring, as it was a pretty good night for points in only one game.  For the Bruins, Michael Ryder led the way, scoring the eventual winning goal and adding 2 assists for a 4-point night.  Nathan Horton picked up 3 points, while Tomas Kaberle, Dennis Seidenberg and Tim Thomas each finished with 2 points.  On the Tampa side, Vincent Lecavalier had 4 points, Steven Stamkos had 3 points and Martin St. Louis had 2 points.

ImplicationsWhat has this night done for the pool?  Well, Tryst'n'Grant is now only 1 point behind Superstar for the lead, they were holding a share of the lead until the GWG was handed out and then Superstar inched ahead for the evening's lead in the end.  The Langdon River Dogs also closed in on the lead, closing the gap to only 6 points.  A couple new teams moved into the money with this game as well, as Pucking Luck had a great game from four out of five of their players in this game, while Kalenab had a very similar outing from their side as well.

Game-Winning Goals
New Playoffs Game Winner ButtonWe have ourselves a clear leader in the GWG department after Tuesday night's game, as The Kings Don't Pay Their Bills now leads the pool with 16 bonus points, more so because of Henrik Sedin on Sunday night than Michael Ryder on Tuesday night, but nevertheless, they still lead the pool.  With only nine of a possible 12 players left in the pool and we've just started the Conference Finals, the chances of staying on top are fairly slim, but it's really a fruitless victory, since they are way down in 27th in the standings after Tuesday night's game.
