I had also made mention that the Bruins would want to get the jump on the Lightning, but that wasn't the case, as Tampa jumped on them really early, scoring 13 seconds into the game and putting the home team on their heels. Still, the Bruins were not deterred, especially going into the 2nd down 2-1.
Non-pool player Tyler Seguin has finally stepped into the limelight in this series, taking over for the injured Patrice Bergeron, as he scored a beauty in Game One and unleashed in Game Two, scoring a pair of goals and adding a pair of assists in the middle frame, helping his team finish the 2nd with a 6-3 lead. Seguin was not slotted into a roster position on a regular basis down the stretch of the regular season, which was why he was omitted from the sheet and since his first playoff game was Game One of this series, he would have missed a whole lot of hockey for any owners thus far.
It wasn't one of the most picturesque games in Tim Thomas' career and despite giving up a pair of goals in the 3rd period, he still came away with 36 saves and the 6-5 win.
Time to go over the pool scoring, as it was a pretty good night for points in only one game. For the Bruins, Michael Ryder led the way, scoring the eventual winning goal and adding 2 assists for a 4-point night. Nathan Horton picked up 3 points, while Tomas Kaberle, Dennis Seidenberg and Tim Thomas each finished with 2 points. On the Tampa side, Vincent Lecavalier had 4 points, Steven Stamkos had 3 points and Martin St. Louis had 2 points.
