Player Notes in the Draft (Mar 11)

The back problems that have been haunting Colorado Avalanche forward Paul Stastny, have reared their ugly head again, forcing the pivot to miss Monday night's game against the Winnipeg Jets.  Stastny is listed as out day-to-day right now and there is some expectation that he would be ready for the team's next game, Wednesday night against the Chicago Blackhawks.

An Avalanche player that won't be ready for Wednesday night will be PA Parenteau, as it sounds like his regular season is pretty well over.  Parenteau suffered ligament damage in his right knee against the Jets on Monday night and his prognosis is in the 4-to-6 weeks range.  On the slight chance that he could return to the line-up before the playoffs, he still may not be 100%.  The Avalanche are in the playoff mix, so there should be some expectation that the team will wait until he is 100%, before they work him back in the line-up.

It was a game missed for Stacey C., who dropped out of the prizes last week and it is a lost player, for likely the remainder of the season, for our pool leader, Allan.  There is one there that can change the complexion of the money race, even though Allan has opened up an 18-point lead.

Scary moment in the Dallas/Columbus game last night, as Stars forward Rich Peverley collapsed on the bench, following a shift in the 1st period of the game. Peverley was quickly diagnosed with having a cardiac event, where he was attended to by team doctors on the bench, resuscitated and then taken to hospital, where he is resting comfortably and is on the road to recovery.  All indications are that he will be out of the line-up indefinitely.

In all of the hustle and bustle of Peverley's condition, Stars forward Alex Chiasson was also taken to hospital, as he was visibly shaken from the evening's events.  Chiasson did not accompany the team, as they took off for St. Louis, as they play the second-half of a back-to-back games.

The game between the Stars and Blue Jackets has been postponed, with a make-up date yet to be announced.

In the pool, Derek Wilton has both Peverley and Chiasson and will be without both of them for tonight's game against the Blues and it is likely that Peverley will miss more.  His indefinite status will mean his projected games will disappear going forward.

The Ottawa Senators have some big questions now in net, as Craig Anderson was forced to leave Monday night's game against the Nashville Predators after teammate Milan Michalek collided with him in the 3rd period.  Anderson left the ice, under his own power, when the play had ended and headed directly for the room.  There haven't been any reports early on Tuesday to suggest what the Sens keeper may have suffered, but the team doesn't play again until Saturday, so there is time before then to get all the appropriate tests done.

This could be another huge concern for Wilton, as he has Anderson as his number one goalie.  If Anderson has suffered anything close to a concussion on the play, this could be an injury that hurts his team dearly.  Stay tuned!

Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Derek Morris was not in the line-up for the team's game in Tampa Bay against the Lightning, as he has been sidelined with an upper-body injury, currently listed as out day-to-day.  There was no more news on the extent of the injury, but it did give an opening to young defender Brandon Gormley, who made his NHL debut in the 4-3 shootout win.

Morris has been painfully inconsistent this season, both offensively and health-wise.  One of the big pains that Ryan V. has suffered through this season.
