On Thursday, the Dallas Stars announced the retirement of forward
Stu Barnes and his new appointment as an assistant coach with the team. Barnes, a veteran of over 1,100 games in the NHL with five clubs, amassed 597 points in his career. He wasn't really considered to be a good hockey pool type player, although his days in Pittsburgh and Buffalo were fairly productive, having a career-high of 65 points in 1997/'98 with the Penguins.
