The Race for the Second Jersey Prize

For those who were wondering today, I thought I would give a quick breakdown of how the race looks for the end of the second segment in the pool this morning.

The Hockey Day In Canada schedule has 13 games on the docket, all but four teams are going today.  This should make for an amazing day in the hockey pool, assuming that all teams are firing on all cylinders and there are points a plenty to be had.

Leading the way in the standings for Week Sixteen, in the second segment only, it is Derek Wilton, who has 214 points (unofficially, of course) through Friday night's action.  Derek has a large 10-point gap in this race over Cindy, who has had a strong second segment, back with 204 points.  Ryan M. is 14 points back at 200 points and it would be very unlikely for Clayton (199) or Mike (198) to make that push all the way up, barring ridiculous performances across their line-ups.

There are also three games on Sunday, just to put the icing on the cake, not to mention the Week Sixteen audit, which would need to take place for all those scoring changes in the week.

Derek has already had big weeks from Blake Wheeler of the Jets and Shea Weber of the Predators, each picking up 4 points each, while Cindy's best player this week has been Ryan Johansen of the Blue Jackets, with only 3 points.

Derek is in the mix for another Mover & Shaker award in Week Sixteen with 19 points, only 2 points back of the Friday night leaders, Mike & Wes, while Cindy's team has been slightly below average in the week with only 13 points.

If there may be more bad news for Cindy, this week's scoring rate in the pool has been poor, as the pool has only seen 10.8 points per NHL game, well down from Week Fourteen's record of 12.8.
