The 23-year old Russian bolted back home for a couple of years after the 2016 season, playing the last couple years with CSKA Moscow in the KHL. In those two seasons, he posted 27 goals and 51 points in 86 games, not exactly ripping things up there. His last season in Dallas wasn't amazing either, 9 goals and 29 points in 79 games, but he does return to the top league in the world, a little bit more mature and possibly a little wiser as well.
It will be interesting to see where he slots in for the Stars, given the amount of offensive talent already in the lineup, Alexander Radulov looks like a linemate for him on paper, but even lining up with Tyler Seguin might have some real upside too. Nichushkin could very well do nicely in 2019, if the stars align.
