Pool Worthy RFAs Not Qualified (Jun 22)
The Buffalo Sabres announced this week that goaltender Robin Lehner will not be qualified before Monday's deadline, which will make him an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, when the NHL calendar officially ticks over.
Lehner, 26, appeared in 53 games for the Sabres, including the Winter Classic, and he picked up 14 wins and 34 points, good enough for 39th among all goalies, outside of the top 31, where you'd want starting goalies to be.
The Sabres will be in need of a new number one or a 1B, with Linus Ullmark being the current favourite to take the top job, until free agency rolls around, of course. Buffalo has lots of cap space to work with, so they'll be a team to watch this summer.
