Shanny Has a Case of the Shivers

In the third period versus the Bruins, Brendan Shanahan (Marcus) was benched for the latter part of the game, due to his inconsistency and his poor play of late.

Of the Rangers last 9 games, Shanahan didn't dress for 3 of them due to his bumps, bruises and general soreness; while in the other 6 games, Shanahan hasn't registed a point and has been -5 in the process.

The All-Star Break could very well be coming at the most opportune time for the veteran winger, as he could use the rest to get himself back to 100% and hopefully raise his play a little bit more for the Rangers down the stretch. There is some belief that he is currently playing through the pain of some nagging injuries, which has hampered the star winger over the last couple weeks. It wouldn't necessarily surprise me to see Shanahan sit for the last two games before the break, if need be.
