Player Notes in the Draft (Oct 17)

Scary moment in the game between the Penguins and Stars on Thursday night, as forward Pascal Dupuis took a puck to either the neck or close to the spine, between the shoulders, when he was down in a vulnerable position in front of the offensive net. This injury is very reminiscent of the injury that Daymond Langkow suffered a few years ago with the Calgary Flames, an injury he did return from, thankfully.  Dupuis was taken to hospital for tests and observation and fortunately, everything seemed to come back just fine, as he was back on the ice on Friday morning.  He didn't practice with the club, but skated on his own, which suggests he may miss at least one game, just as the team figures out whether or not he's 100% or not.

This was a pretty good scare for Wyllie, as he may have lost one of his better forwards on his team.  Dupuis was a waiver draft pick up and has been good for him early on.  Wyllie sits in 6th place going into the weekend, 14 points out of 1st place.

New York Islanders forward Mikhail Grabovski was knocked out of Thursday night's game against the San Jose Sharks after taking a huge hit from John Scott, knocking the veteran forward out with an upper-body injury.  The team was quick to confirm that Grabovski did not sustain a concussion, but they wouldn't specify what kind of injury he ended up with.  We'll consider him day-to-day for right now.

More injury concerns for Allan, who still continues to roll early on this season, with 41 points, nearly through two weeks this season.  Allan is 11 points out of 1st place and may be without a forward for a little bit.

From the Toronto morning skate on Friday morning, there was confirmation that Stephane Robidas would be the healthy scratch on the blueline, which means Jake Gardiner would slide back into the line-up.  Robidas admitted that his play wasn't good enough and going for a game in the press box isn't unreasonable, in essence.  This will be Gardiner's chance to make amends with his play, so it makes for an interesting situation.

This is good news for Mike, who has Gardiner, sitting in 18th place, he gets a body back on the ice, but it's bad news for Allan, who sits in 2nd, who loses a body to a coach's decision.
