Blackhawks Lose Their Number One

The Chicago Blackhawks received some bad news on Tuesday, as Corey Crawford, their number one goalie, is scheduled to miss the next 2-to-3 weeks with a lower-body injury. Crawford suffered the injury in Sunday's game against the Florida Panthers, leaving the game in the 1st period after making a kick save.  The Blackhawks ended up winning the game, 6-2, but the winning goal was scored after Crawford was hurt, so he wasn't credited with the win in that one.

In 27 appearances for the Blackhawks, Crawford has a 17-6-3 record with no shutouts and has 1 assist, making for 35 points.

ImplicationsCrawford is not only the number one goalie for the Blackhawks, he is the number one guy on Dale C.'s team, which currently sits 8th in the standings after Monday night's action.  Dale is only 15 points out of the prizes, but three weeks without his best player may put a big dent in the hopes of making up that ground.  The remainder of his team will need to hike up their socks to keep up now.
