The NHL Department of Player Safety has come down upon Toronto Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf for his hit he placed on Boston Bruins defenseman Kevan Miller on Sunday night. Phaneuf was handed a 2-game suspension on Tuesday afternoon for his hit from behind on the depth defenseman and will now miss Wednesday's game at home to Los Angeles and Thursday's game away to St. Louis.
In 31 games this season, Phaneuf has 2 goals and 10 assists.
A 2-game ban isn't the biggest dent in the season, but for Cindy, as her team tries to climb back into the top half of the standings, two games is two games. Of course, Phaneuf isn't scoring as much as he used to, but since I've outlined pool scoring and games played, it's fairly important.
Cindy's team sits 8 points out of 12th spot in the standings, but should have Phaneuf back for the weekend.
