Even in the Olympic Break, there are some news bytes that are dropping from North America. It sounds like New York Islanders forward Frans Nielsen may miss a week or two outside of the break after suffering a broken bone in one of his hands, thanks to a slash from Erik Johnson of the Colorado Avalanche. The injury doesn't sound too serious, obviously there are some bones in your hand that would be much worse to break than others and this doesn't sound like the case. Missing one week with a broken hand isn't too bad.
Johnson has received a notice that he will be called for a hearing on the case, so there is a chance he will face supplemental discipline for the infraction.
Not the best news for Brenda, who has Nielsen, or John, who has the Avs defenseman. As soon as we get out of the Olympic Break, that's when we'll all want our teams to be healthy and ready for the home stretch.
