The Anaheim Ducks signed one of their draft picks over the August Long Weekend, as
Nick Ritchie, the 10th overall pick in June, was signed to his 3-year entry-level deal. Ritchie was one of the more likely candidates to make the NHL immediately out of the draft and in Anaheim, there may be a good chance of him making the jump. Ritchie is a bigger body with tons of strength, projecting to be a strong power forward, which may play well into the Ducks' hands. With some of the changes at the Duck Pond, Ritchie could figure onto a line with either
Ryan Getzlaf or
Ryan Kesler and that may give the Ducks a little more strength in the top six. If that pans out, he may be a good pick-up in the hockey pool draft.
