On Thursday, another key restricted free agent was stricken from the list, as the Anaheim Ducks re-signed forward Jakob Silfverberg, giving him a new 1-year deal, worth $850,500.
Silfverberg was acquired by the Ducks in the 2013 off-season in the deal that sent Bobby Ryan to the Ottawa Senators.
In 52 games in the 2014 season, the 23-year old Swede finished with 10 goals and 23 points, which had him ranked well down in 368th overall in pool scoring, but with a small 1-year bridge deal out of his entry-level contract, I get the feeling that he will be due to break out in 2015.
When the pool projections get published on the blog site in the next couple weeks, there will be a nice little boost for Silfverberg, who may turn out to be a gem this season. He really made some strides last season and will likely get a lot of opportunity to succeed in the year.
With this signing, the Ducks nearly have their projected roster filled out, something else you'll see when the pool projections come out. The Ducks only have one spot left on their projected roster, likely left for their remaining RFA, Devante Smith-Pelly, and the team has about $14 million in cap space left to spend. Anaheim has done an amazing job at their cap management of late.
