Afternoon Player Notes in the Playoffs (May 21)
Game 4 between the St. Louis Blues and San Jose Sharks will see a new starter in the visitor's net tonight, as Jake Allen has been tapped to start for the Blues tonight. Allen has already made a couple of appearances in relief, but with the series really tilted towards the Sharks after two straight shutout wins, the Blues need a kick in the pants to get their team started.
Allen won't be relied upon to score any goals, of course, but changing up the keepers may spark a fire underneath this Blues team, which has almost become complacent with their poor play in the second and third game of this series.
In the pool, the Blues' Box 12 representation was only taken once, but unlike his counterpart in tonight's game, Martin Jones, it's a little too late to make such a huge impact with so few picks in the pool. Jeremy's second team has Allen in the pool this year, which still sits in 10th place, despite not having a West goalie, until tonight, but his team is still 48 points out of 2nd place.
