On Tuesday afternoon, it was reported that the Boston Bruins re-signed veteran defenseman Kevan Miller, inking him to a 4-year, $10 million deal, saving him from heading to the open market on July 1st.
Miller was ranked 96th in pool scoring among all defensemen in the 2016 season, good enough to slide into the worthiness mentions. He finished the year with 5 goals and 18 points in 71 games.
The 28-year old rearguard earned a lot of trust with the coaching staff in the 2016 season, likely more because of his play in his own end, than his offensive prowess, but he was able to chip in on the scoresheet, which made him valuable to us poolies.
In the pool last season, Miller was a late pick-up in Week Eighteen, making his debut in the pool. Under the right circumstances, he could be taken again next season, at the September draft... assuming we have the same amount or more people. In this early part of the Summer, Miller is only one of two pool-worthy Bruins defenders signed on for next season, the other being Zdeno Chara, but you'd have to assume that would improve by training camp.
