Morning Player Notes in the Playoffs (May 20)

The San Jose Sharks needed a quick period of adjustment to their new series against the St. Louis Blues, but ever since Game 1, they have found their stride and it seems that they have a firm handle on this one.

On Thursday night, the Sharks stifled the Blues, yet again, while capitalizing on their opportunities, winning the game, 3-0, and it became back-to-back shutouts for Sharks keeper, Martin Jones, who had to make 22 saves for the 4 points in the hockey pool.  The Sharks managed to sneak three goals past Brian Elliott, two of which, including the eventual winner, came from young forward Tomas Hertl, who picked up a 3-point night as well.  Other notable Sharks in this one include Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton, each picking up a pair of assists.

The Blues are going to need to dig really deep in Game 4 on Saturday, if they are going to want to go back home with an even series, otherwise it's time to dust off the 8-ball and it could be a pretty short series.

ImplicationsThe Martin Jones show is making the race for 2nd place into one of much curiosity, as Scott's team is benefiting from a huge goaltending performance from the Sharks keeper and his team has now gained 2 points on Kristy's team in this round.  Sure, the gap is still 8 points, but if the Sharks win their way into the Finals, especially at this pace, this may not be over quite yet.
