It's hard to say otherwise, but it's been an interesting summer so far for the Islanders. They managed to keep their first overall pick and shock no one by taking
John Tavares, then managing to sign him to his entry-level deal. I actually think that the most interesting and most surprising element of the Islanders summer is how they have decided to go about taking care of their crease, signing both
Martin Biron and
Dwayne Roloson, while they have
Rick DiPietro signed as their franchise guy. This situation really brings more questions than answers about DiPietro for the moment, but I suppose we're all hoping that the team clears that up before too long.

I am currently waiting to put
John Tavares into the roster sheet just yet, as there isn't any certain guarantee, but that ideal is slowly fading away. Tavares should be a shoe-in for a roster spot and he should be considered an interesting player as to where he'll get picked in a fantasy draft as well. Since I don't have him on the roster sheet, he doesn't count in my salary cap hit at the moment. So saying that, the Islanders roster of 19 players now sits at $33.2 million against the cap, $7.6 million away from the cap floor. The addition of Tavares will be a huge help to get to the floor, so on that merit alone, he could very well be in the line-up.
