2012 4th Round Draft Pick

After signing Tomas Kaberle to a new deal, the Hurricanes have dealt offensive defenseman Joe Corvo to the Bruins for a mid-round draft pick.

The Bruins ended up losing out on re-signing Kaberle in this off-season, so they did the next best thing and acquired another puck moving defenseman to help fill the void.  Fortunately, the team that ended up signing Kaberle, found themselves with a glutton of puck moving defensemen and decided to help the Bruins out.

The Hurricanes were able to get a decent draft pick in a salary dump deal, so it ended up being an okay transaction for them as well.

Salary CapWith Kaberle on the books in Carolina and now Corvo in Boston, we will have a quick peek at the salary cap numbers that are in place. The Hurricanes now have 19 players signed on for the 2012 season for $44.2 million, while the Bruins have 19 players signed on for $53 million.  Two very different budgeted teams.
