Hurricanes to Welcome Back Skinner

The Carolina Hurricanes have taken sophomore forward Jeff Skinner off of the Injured Reserve on Sunday morning, in preparation for their game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, which Skinner is planning to dress for, making a triumphant return from a concussion.

Skinner has been out since the beginning of December with the head injury and the Hurricanes have barely been staying afloat in his absence.  The Hurricanes were not much of a playoff time at the time of his injury and things haven't gotten any better, now sitting in 13th in the East, 9 points out of a playoff spot.

At the time of the concussion diagnosis, Skinner was 59th in pool scoring, leading the Hurricanes in that department with 24 points in 30 games.  At the time of his return, I have Skinner at 158th in pool scoring, 4th on the team, only 11 points back of Cam Ward.

ImplicationsWell, this is the first bit of good news that Darren S. has had in a long while, as the last place team will finally get their 1st round draft pick back today.  Skinner still is among the scoring leaders on Darren's team, which says a lot about how bad his team actually is this season, but with him back, it could get a little bit better.
