McDonagh Sidelined by Shoulder Injury

The New York Rangers announced on Sunday morning that their captain, defenseman Ryan McDonagh, will likely be missing the next 3-to-4 weeks with a shoulder separation. McDonagh suffered the injury after getting hit hard into the boards by Winnipeg forward Evander Kane.

This is a tough injury to swallow for the Rangers, who are right in the middle of the Metropolitan Division race, only 1 point out of the top three and they may have a tough time keeping up the pace, with such an important figure out of their line-up.

McDonagh hasn't exactly gotten off to a magnificent start to the season, offensively, only picking up 3 assists in 10 games, to date. He did emerge as a clutch playoff performer last Spring, when he helped the Rangers all the way to the Finals, but hasn't found that form in the regular season yet.  Heading into Sunday, the leader of the Blueshirts was only ranked 358th overall in pool scoring.

It has been a pretty rough week for Brenda & Seward, who have now suffered their second injury of about three weeks in Week Four, losing Joffrey Lupul to a broken hand before the weekend.  The pool's second duo have been able to jump out of the basement, where they finished Week Three, but these injuries will likely keep them in the conversation, for the next three weeks, anyways.

An updated list of injuries can be found here.
