Boedker On the Shelf

According to a tweet this afternoon from the Arizona Coyotes account, forward Mikkel Boedker will be out for an indefinite period of time, being re-evaluated on a week-to-week basis.  With the All-Star break looming, the immediate time going to be missed for the Danish scoring winger won't be too bad.

Obviously, by this tweet, there was no mention of when or how the injury had occurred and I have not found any mention of an injury from the game against the Jets on Sunday night.  Boedker only had two shifts, late in the 3rd period, as it looked like he may have been testing out whatever injury he may have sustained and his ice-time was down around 13 minutes, so that does appear to be down as well.

This does come as a significant blow to Kristy & Don, who have been enjoying some success with Boedker this season, as he has picked up 14 goals and 28 points in 45 games this season with the Coyotes, good enough to be 114th in overall scoring, just before today's games.

Boedker was taken with the 193rd pick, down in the 9th round, and has exceeded his expectations, so far this season.  To be up in 114th, means that he would be thought more of a 5th round pick, to date, but if this injury is going to be long-term, then there is going to be a sudden drop off there.

This is the second significant injury to Kristy & Don's team, who is also without the best player in the pool, Pekka Rinne, for a few weeks, so they could be in line for the great equalizer from the hockey gods.

An updated list of injuries can be found here.
