Top Prospect Signings (Jul 9)

The Carolina Hurricanes wrapped up their prospect development camp this weekend and it came to a close knowing that their top two prospects from this June's draft are now signed and sealed as players in their organization.  Forward Julien Gauthier (left) and defenseman Jake Bean signed their entry-level deals, which will carry early cap hits of $925,000 for at least the 2017 season, but both can slide, if they don't make the team out of training camp or play past their 9-game tryout.

Bean was taken higher of the two picks, the 13th overall selection, but Gauthier was not very far behind at the 21st spot in the order, thanks to a trade in 2015 with the Los Angeles Kings.

The club was obviously impressed enough by these two at camp to have them sign on the dotted line, but they are also 1st round picks and they do come with a high amount of expectation.  Both players could certainly find their way into the 9-game tryout at the start of the season, as the Hurricanes' depth may allow for it.
