It's Tuesday, which means that the schedule is busy and that also means that there are a good number of games on the schedule and that the goalie survivor pool will get a good workout.
It's an all-survival match-up in Philadelphia, with the Ducks and the Flyers going head-to-head, where Tony and Stacey C. will have their goalies getting their first crack at Week Four. It looks like Stacey will get two cracks tonight, so a win here could also mean he plays spoiler later on in the evening.
It's brother trying to spoil an effort for another brother, as Stuart and Benson will have their goalies go on Long Island tonight. Domingue is now the starter for the Coyotes for the time being and he gets Halak, who is starting to squeak out a little bit more action for the Islanders in this early part of the season, possibly suggesting that he's nearing the number one status again.
With no Antti Niemi in town for the Penguins, there's very little safety net below Matt Murray in the starter's role (*snicker*). This might not be so bad for Stacey M., who will probably take as many starts that Murray can possibly give her hockey pool team, both for points and for survival. The Oilers are in town tonight, which should be a great match-up of superstars up front, but the goalie match-up is also quite good, with Cam Talbot in net on the other side.
It's an Atlantic Division match-up in Carolina tonight and Wilton gets his only chance at a survival win with the Lightning visiting the Hurricanes tonight. Vasilevskiy is his guy in the crease tonight and the red-hot Lightning will try to put more than their fair share past Scott Darling, who is manning the Canes crease on the other side.
Brian will get one of those rare starts from the Ottawa backup, Mike Condon, as they will get the Kings, who are on back-to-back nights and going with their backup as well, the non-pool goalie, Darcy Kuemper. Brian had one shot at surviving last night with the Rangers, but that obviously didn't work in his favour against the Sharks, so now it's try number two this week.
The pool's first duo get a taste of what used to be, as their goalie will face one of their all-time favourites, with Ben Bishop taking on Semyon Varlamov tonight. Varlamov has been doing the job for Stacey C., which he was unable to do for the duo in the last couple of seasons, which has to be somewhat disappointing. This is Stacey's second crack at a win, if his team needs it, with Elliott starting earlier.
The Golden Knights are now going to be working on goaltender number three, which could be ripe for the picking for the Blackhawks tonight, which is possibly some good news for Jeremy's chances at surviving Week Four. His goalie, Corey Crawford, has been off to a pretty good start of his own and his offense will see the Knights for the first time and we're all excited to see how that goes. Vegas has survived some good teams already, so you just never know.
