Top Prospect Signing (Jun 12)

The Chicago Blackhawks announced on Tuesday afternoon, that they signed their 1st round draft pick from last summer's entry draft, Finnish defenseman Henri Jokiharju, but the terms and bonuses were not disclosed right away.  It would be fair to think that he will be making the entry-level max salary, $925,000, for the 3-year deal, but bonuses are negotiable.

Jokiharju, 19, is considered to be one of the Blackhawks' top prospects, rated number one by the Hockey News and the scouting report is that he is a smooth skater, very smart with the puck and uses his stick well defensively, more so than being a real physical player.

Chicago doesn't have a great deal of holes in their blueline right now, but if Jokiharju is deemed ready to play in the 2019 season, there are a couple of guys you could point out to being the odd guy out.  There's room for him to make it, but he'd have to play pretty well to do it.  Keep an eye on him.
