Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comThe number three seed is through in the Eastern Conference. The Buffalo Sabres beat the Philadelphia Flyers 7-1 in Game 6 to advance to the second round, much to the glee of the 50 selections in the pool. Buffalo was the favourite to get through in the pool too, as Philly players only account for 38 picks.

Ryan Miller won all four games for the Sabres, but he wasn't the biggest point getter for the Sabres... Chris Drury had 2 goals and 2 assists in the romp. Ales Kotalik scored the winning goal for the bonus point. J.P. Dumont, Maxim Afinogenov and Toni Lydman all had points as well for the Sabres.

Mike Richards recorded the only point in the loss for the Flyers. It was his only point in the series.

Players eliminated from the pool and their points:
Peter Forsberg, 4G 4A 2GWG
Eric Desjardins, 1G 3A
Robert Esche, 2W
Simon Gagne, 3G 1A
Derian Hatcher, 2A
Joni Pitkanen, 2A
Mike Richards, 1A

Cam Ward outdueled Cristobel Huet making 25 saves in the win. Ward won his fourth straight game as the Hurricanes stormed back from a 2-0 series deficit. Mark Recchi scored the other goal for the Hurricanes and Eric Staal had an assist as well on Tuesday night.

For the Canadiens, Sheldon Souray scored his 3rd goal and Michael Ryder had an assist in the loss.

The series was very low scoring in the pool. The Hurricanes had a total of 38 points and the Habs had 33 points. 24 Canadiens have been lost in the pool, while 90 Hurricane selections have moved on.

Players eliminated from the pool and their points:
Alexei Kovalev, 4G 3A
Michael Ryder, 2G 3A 1GWG
Sheldon Souray, 3G 2A
Cristobel Huet, 2W
Mathieu Dandenault, 3A
Richard Zednik, 2G
Jan Bulis, 1G 1A
Craig Rivet, 2A
Mike Ribeiro, 2A
Saku Koivu, 2A

So in the East, the Ottawa Senators will match-up against the Buffalo Sabres and the Carolina Hurricanes will host the surging New Jersey Devils. The top 4 seeds in the East advanced, as they probably should have. There are a lot of good matchups and lots of players that are gonna be lost.
