Well, the Edmonton Oilers did the seemingly impossible by knocking off the best team in the league in six games. Dwayne Roloson made 33 saves, only 8 in the 3rd period, to eliminate one of the most popular teams in the pool. Ales Hemsky, picked once in the pool, scored two goals (including the winner) to lead the Oilers past the Red Wings, whilst Sergei Samsonov and Jarret Stoll each had a pair of assists. Ryan Smyth, Jason Smith and Shawn Horcoff each added an assist in the elimination game.

107 selections have now left the pool... 107 out of a possible 117 selections. That's how popular the Red Wings were. Henrik Zetterberg scored the only pool counting goal for the Red Wings last night and Steve Yzerman & Mathieu Schneider each had an assist in the loss.

Players eliminated from the pool as follows:
Mathieu Schneider, 1G 7A
Henrik Zetterberg, 6G
Manny Legace, 2W
Steve Yzerman, 4A
Nicklas Lidstrom, 1G, 1GWG, 1A
Tomas Holmstrom, 1G, 2A
Pavel Datsyuk, 3A
Brendan Shanahan, 1G 1A
Jason Williams, 1G 1A

The Anaheim Mighty Ducks, on the back of Ilya Bryzgalov defeated the Calgary Flames 2-1 to force a deciding Game 7 in Calgary on Wednesday. Scott Niedermayer again comes up trumps with the game-winning goal in the third period and Teemu Selanne scored his second of the playoffs to tie the game in the second period. Chris Perry and Ryan Getzlaf each netted an assist for their troubles to help the Ducks win the game.

Robyn Regehr had the only counting Flames point in the loss.

Quack.

So, now in the West...

#6 Anaheim
The Flames are now the highest seed in the West, going into Game 7. With Dallas and Detroit now out, the Flames can have home-ice through to the Cup Finals... if they make it that far.

The Sharks are now guaranteed home-ice advantage in the next round of the playoffs with the exit of the Red Wings. The Sharks can either host Edmonton or Colorado, depending on the outcome of the Ducks & Flames.

The Avalanche have their bags packed, but they just don't know where they're going yet. The only team that the Avs can't face is Edmonton.

If the Flames win on Wednesday, the it's the Battle of Alberta in the second round of the playoffs. A matchup that hasn't happened since 1991. The prospect is somewhat exciting.
