Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comThe Senators hung on Thursday night to remain in the 2nd round series against the Sabres. A must-win wasn't made easy by any means... the Senators needed to fight for every puck possession and found themselves with a needed power-play goal to seal the win early in the third.

Wade Redden scored the winning goal from Daniel Alfredsson, 2 minutes into the third and then held on so Ray Emery could capture just his 5th win of the playoffs. Brian Pothier scored an unassisted goal in the first, so no points came from that goal at all.

Daniel Briere scored his 4th of the playoffs from J.P. Dumont and Brian Campbell as the only goal for the Sabres.

Game 5, as it is now necessary, will go on Saturday night. They will go back to Ottawa as CBC will carry the game as the early game at 5pm MT.

Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comGood night, Colorado! The Avs are out! The Avs are out! The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim have swept away the Avalanche, which is quite the task, especially after being taken to seven games the series before by Calgary.

Teemu Selanne got credit for the winning goal, as the only pool-counting goal. Scott Niedermayer, Joffrey Lupul and Sean O'Donnell all added assists for the Ducks in their sweeping cause.

Joe Sakic had his last goal of the playoffs from Alex Tanguay and Andrew Brunette. The lack of offense was one of the main reasons why the Avalanche couldn't get past Ilya Bryzgalov and the Ducks.

Anaheim will await the winner of the San Jose/Edmonton series.

Points from eliminated players:
Joe Sakic, 4G 5A 1GWG
Andrew Brunette, 3G 6A 1GWG
Milan Hejduk, 2G 6A
Jose Theodore, 4W
Alex Tanguay, 2G 4A 1GWG

Brett Clark, 2G 2A
John-Michel Liles, 1G 1A
Pierre Turgeon, 2A
