The big winner out of last night's game was Dan... he vaulted to the top of the heap, taking the lead on the goals tie-breaker. Even without Pronger, Dan still managed to pick up points from Getzlaf, S. Niedermayer and Bertuzzi, which was enough to push him forward. Benson, now second, managed to pick up a few points here and there, but was shut out on the Detroit side, which he was really counting on for success. And if either Dan or Benson stumble, we now have a four-way tie for third place, only 2 points back and Tim, who is in seventh, is only 3 points back. Talk about thrilling...
Spotlight Player
With the game winner and an assist last night, Ryan Getzlaf was a shoe-in for Spotlight Player this morning. Getzlaf, who is now tied with J-S Giguere for the team lead in pool points, showed why he was taken 18 times in the pool. He has been a big part of some of the teams that are situated at the top of the pool as well, so he truly has been an impact player in the pool this season.
The former Calgary Hitman has really broken out as one of the better dominating players in the league through these playoffs and the future really looks bright for him as well.
Game 5 in Buffalo will go on Saturday afternoon, for all those keeping track. Tonight will be hockey-free, so everyone can be hungover when watching the Senators try and finish off the Sabres at the HSBC Arena. The sweep may be a distant memory now, but we'll see if the focus has been lost by Ottawa or if the Sabres can pull another rabbit out of their hats.
