The Ducks are Up

It was a come-from-behind win in Detroit for the Ducks and now they'll go home to try and take the series at home in Anaheim. Maybe what I'll do is go through the spotlight player first and then show everyone how the game affected the pool. Yeah... that's the ticket!

Well, I already thought that Glenn Healy was an idiot... but the TSN analyst kinda shot him in the foot by making fun of Teemu Selanne for not being the one would could score for Anaheim in overtime... but the Finnish Flash showed him. Oh yes. His unassisted game-winner was enough to make a few people look like fools... Andreas Lilja (who gave up the puck), Dominik Hasek (who floundered to try and stop Selanne), Glenn Healy (for making a statement that Selanne isn't good enough, in essence) and the 38 teams who didn't pick him. So yeah... 25 teams did pick him... and they all capitalized on a game winning goal and an assist for a whopping three points. That's more than enough to pick up the Spotlight for the evening.

Pool Impact
We have a new leader! Mike E. made good use of Game 5 to put him one point up on Derek. Even Dan kept pace with the two leaders. Mike picked up five points to make the good big move... every point in the scoring plays for Anaheim. The big drop of the bunch was Benson, he fell down to seventh, when he had a good shot for second when it was 1-0 with a minute to go in regulation time. A Hasek shutout would have jumped him a spot or two, but it wasn't to be. Instead, Scott Niedermayer gave virtually everyone a point and the opportunity for a Ducks' win. That's quite the swing in events. Still, there is only 4 points separating 1st and 7th place... so anything can happen.

Just a reminder... Game 6 goes on Tuesday night on CBC... just so you know. Maybe it'll end and then we can talk turkey.
