Pretty big injury news for the Buffalo Sabres, as they confirmed that Tyler Myers will be held out of action for the remainder for the regular season with the foot injury that he suffered last week. The Sabres will not go into further detail about the injury, except to say that the big defender is out indefinitely and will miss the last two games of the season.
The Sabres are already without Christian Ehrhoff, who is out indefinitely with a knee injury, so the team's top two defensemen are now sidelined at the worst possible time for the team, currently tied with the Washington Capitals for the final playoff spot, to which they would lose via the tie-breaker.
Myers has not been quite the dominant offensive threat that he had been in his first two seasons, having only 23 points (8 goals and 15 assists) in 55 games, but injuries have been a problem for him this year and I would imagine the complete overhaul of the blueline didn't help him a great deal, since blueliners are creatures of habit and don't necessarily enjoy a lot of change at their position.
I would look for Myers to bounce back in the 2013 season, but first, we will have to wait and see if his Sabres make it to the playoffs and if he can play with them if they do.
In the pool, Allan S. loses two skater games in the last week of the season, while he is in a dogfight for 4th place in the standings. Allan is tied with Wayne H. at 676 points, nearing the end of the two games on the NHL schedule on Wednesday night, but is safely ahead of 6th place, Stacey C., by 10 points.
