An interesting signing from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday afternoon, as they shored up the forward group with the addition of Matt Cullen, signing him to a 1-year, $800,000 deal.
The unrestricted free agent spent the 2015 season with the Nashville Predators, finishing with 7 goals and 25 points in 62 games. Cullen's season was injury-plagued, missing time on four separate occasions, landing on the injured reserve twice.
Cullen's role on the team may be somewhat limited, thanks to the depth above him in the chart, plus his age (38), but he should be able to play a pretty good role on this team, with plenty of experience in hand. Cullen does have a Cup ring with the 2006 Hurricanes, which should make for a really good add this off-season.
