A wrist injury has forced veteran defenseman Sami Salo to call it quits after 15 NHL seasons.
Salo's injury kept him out of the 2015 season completely, so his last string of games came in the 2014 season, where he ranked 110th among all defensemen with 17 points in 71 games.
Throughout his career, if he wasn't injured (a member of the 2010 class of the Injury Prone List), he was a force from the point, unleashing a booming point shot. If he had healthy seasons, he would be in the top 75 defensemen in pool scoring, generally, and even if he did get hurt in the year, he would still hover around the top 100.
Remarkably, for how good he was when he was healthy, Salo never featured on a money-winning team in the hockey pools, dating back to the 2008 season.
