We're still over a month away from training camps being opened, but the camp invites are starting to trickle through. On Friday, the Penguins agreed to give 41-year old defender, Sergei Gonchar, one last look (or kick at the can). Gonchar had 14 points in 48 games with the Canadiens last season, not quite making it to the pool worthy list, but if he can crack the Pens roster as the seventh defender, he at least has a shot to become relevant again.
There are certainly no guarantees about his usefulness or his health, coming into training camp, so I wouldn't be terribly excited about what he could bring to the table. Can't fault the guy for trying though, finishing on a high note is very appealing.
