Thrashers Bytes

The Thrashers are right in the thick of it all in the Eastern Conference, locked in the battle for a playoff spot, which is awfully exciting for them, but they are finding speed bumps at every turn. On Tuesday, Pavel Kubina was knocked out of the game against the Maple Leafs with an upper-body injury. He was not able to go for the team on Thursday night due to the injury and its unclear as to whether or not he'll be able to go on Saturday afternoon against the Penguins.

On Friday, it was announced that Colby Armstrong was suspended for this elbow (click the link here to watch the video) on Capitals forward, Mathieu Perreault. Armstrong received a two-game suspension for his actions on that play, likely for the contact to the head of Perreault with his elbow, trying to clamp down on the head shots.

ImplicationsNot a big impact on the final days of the pool here. Benson has Kubina in the Draft this year and he's well out of the money race there. None of the top four teams have Armstrong in the Sheet pool, so there should be no impact on the race there. This just has an impact on how the Thrashers finish in the standings.
