The New Jersey Devils announced on Tuesday morning that they had re-signed fringe defenseman Steven Santini, giving him a new 3-year, $4.25 million deal. The 23-year old appeared in 36 games for the Devils last season, scoring 2 goals and 10 points, which was still good enough for 173rd among all defensemen in scoring. That translates into over 20 points in a full season, which could be good enough for a hockey pool mention some years.Santini was paired a lot with Andy Greene last season, but seemingly fell out of favour around the midway point, not dressing after early January. Nevertheless, the 3-year extension has to give you the feeling that he could be around for a while yet.
