Stephen Weiss signed a long-term deal, with time to spare before camp. Weiss signed a 6-year, $18.6 million deal on Thursday to finish up the Panthers' Top 20. The Panthers need Stephen Weiss to be the blue chip prospect that he's always been touted as this season to move forward into the playoffs again. Weiss scored 20 goals and 48 points last season in 74 games. He'll need to ramp it up a bit, but being third in line on the depth chart may hinder those chances.| Ville Peltonen | Olli Jokinen | Nathan Horton |

| Jay Bouwmeester | Ruslan Salei |

| Steve Montador | Branislav Mezei |
| Tomas Vokoun |
| Craig Anderson |
The Panthers now have their salary number up to around $41 million, which gives them lots of flexibility when it comes to moving other players in and/or out of the organization. The addition of Vokoun made them a consideration for the 7th or 8th spot in the East and now with Weiss locked up, you might actually find some real points from the Florida team.
