Burns Suspended, Bernier Injured

The Minnesota Wild will now be without the services of defenseman Brent Burns for their next two games (Sunday in Tampa Bay and Wednesday at home to Anaheim), due to a suspension for his butt end to Steve Bernier's face on Friday night (video clip below).  Burns will be eligible to return next Saturday against the Rangers.

Upon review of the video, around the 1:50 mark, the clip shows that Burns really came at Bernier with the stick still in his hand and it really didn't look good.  Also taking into account, the game had just concluded and the injury suffered, the suspension was definitely warranted.

Bernier has reportedly suffered a broken orbital bone and will undergo surgery this coming week, only then will we know the amount of time that he'll miss with the injury.

ImplicationsThis is a slight blow to the next week of Chris M.'s season, as he currently sits in 2nd place in the draft standings and will be without Burns, who has had a decent start to the Wild's season.  Chris currently has a shot for Mover and Shaker honours for Week Six, but that may be compromised with Burns sitting out on Sunday night.  Time will only tell...
