Another pool relevant trade on Thursday and this is a gooder!
The Minnesota Wild and Carolina Hurricanes swapped struggling forwards, both with fairly good-sized contracts and term on each, trying to give them a change of scenery and a boost to their confidence.
The Hurricanes acquired Swiss forward Nino Niederreiter, known for his speed, he's a guy that could possibly mesh right in with some of those key forwards, like a Teuvo Teravainen or Sebastian Aho, adding yet another threat to their lineup.
The Wild added Victor Rask, who has had some injury troubles at the start of the season, hence the lack of offense this season. Rask has been known to put up some reasonable numbers, but the production just hasn't come this year, so the hope is that he can return to the 40-point pace that he has been previously known for.
This has a potential to be a real gain for Brenda & Seward, who have Niederreiter on their side this season. This deal isn't going to save their season, by any stretch of the imagination, but it could improve upon the goaltenders for each team, who are looking for more wins and more offense to get those wins.
