Blues Add Chris Mason

A division rival trade shot off on Friday morning. The Predators send goalie Chris Mason to the Blues for a fourth round pick on Saturday. This deal coming on the heels of the Blues sending Mayers to Toronto.

The deal does make the goaltending tandem in St. Louis quite formidable, after Manny Legace had a very decent season with the Blues, while Mason lost his starting job to Dan Ellis. Mason does come with a pretty hefty salary, however. At $3 million per year, he isn't a cheap option when it comes to your back-up goalie. Just ask Nashville.

With the salary cap looking to hit the mid-$50 million mark, the Blues are likely not done with the shuffling of the deck. 14 active players now at a cap hit of $43 million is a tough pill to swallow here.
