Tuomo Ruutu Re-Signs in Carolina

The Hurricanes continue to keep themselves in the news with the signing of Tuomo Ruutu to a 1-year contract on Tuesday. This comes on the heels of their buy-outs today, which had opened up a little more space for this signing. Ruutu is slated to make $2.25 million in this deal and will be re-inserted into the line-up, where he did see some success.

After being dealt from Chicago at the trade deadline, Ruutu played 17 games for Carolina, registering 11 points (4G, 7A). Through the season, Ruutu finished with 32 points in 77 games.

After the buy-outs of Jeff Hamilton and David Tanabe and the signing of Tuomo Ruutu, the team structure looks a lot like this. Not counting the buy-outs versus the cap, the cap hit from the roster sits at roughly $43.3 million with 16 players signed.

As the rumour mill churns, there are plenty of rumours surrounding the Hurricanes, likely to free up a little more cap money for some more free agents.
