Sheet Scratches

The Sabres have allowed Box 24 forward, Mike Grier, some time to attend to some family issues, which included last night's game against the Devils. Grier has been granted as much time as he needs to attend to these matters, so he should be considered out indefinitely, just for the time being.

It's a pretty rare sight to see, but Rod Brind'Amour was made a healthy scratch on Monday night against the Flyers. The Box 20 forward has not been the defensive stalwart that he has been known for over the past season and a bit. In his last 108 games, he has posted a -42 rating, which I believe is the worst in the NHL over the entire time period.

With Peter Mueller returning to the line-up on Monday night, that meant that Mikkel Boedker would be the one giving up his roster spot for him. Boedker was a healthy scratch for the Coyotes on Monday and will likely be returned to the minors before too long. The Box 6 foward has not been granted a full-time spot this year and also hasn't proved worthy of one in any of his returns.

The Capitals decided to sit Box 27 defenseman, Milan Jurcina, against the the Lightning. Jurcina only has three assists in 22 games this season, which is fairly low production, especially on a Capitals team that has so much offense.
