Bolts Strike Down the Habs

The miracle run of the Montreal Canadiens has come to an abrupt end, as they couldn't make it out of Tampa Bay alive, the Lightning taking Game 6 with a 4-1 decision.

It was a pretty good series for Nikita Kucherov, who capped it all off with a 3-point effort, including a pair of goals, helping to get the Bolts off the ground with the opening goal of the game and then the insurance empty net marker to seal the deal, late on.

Kucherov's linemate, Ondrej Palat, had a goal and an assist in the deciding game, Steven Stamkos was credited with the eventual winning goal, while Ben Bishop only had to make 18 saves to get his 8th win of the playoffs.

Without getting to watch the game, it sounded like the Lightning had a pretty good grip of this one and the scoring summary and boxscore seemed to agree with that.  The Canadiens didn't appear to put up much of an offensive effort with only 19 shots on goal.

With the elimination, 78 picks go down the tubes, the most popular player getting struck from active duty, P.K. Subban, taken 18 times.  Carey Price was taken 12 times and should be considered a popular player as well.

From a scoring perspective, the Canadiens offense didn't really shine in these playoffs, as Price was their leading point-getter with 14 points in the playoffs and the best skater on the sheet was Subban, who had 8 points, without a bonus point to his name.

The Lightning now await the winner of tonight's Rangers/Capitals game.

With the series done and the audit done for both teams, we now see that Fontanna is rocking a 3-point lead, heading into the final game of the second round of the playoffs.

Fontanna is now up to 177 points, while Jesse P. is down at 174 and Sean L. continues to round out the money spots with 171 points.

On the outside looking in, Stacey M. is at 167 points, while Sairosh has fallen down to 5th place, now with 166 points.

Now, that the Canadiens have been eliminated, the maximum amount of players a team can have at this point is now 15, until the end of tonight, which will go down to 12.  10 pool teams now have 15 players and will be guaranteed to have 12 players in the Conference Finals round.

Three teams, including our pool leader, has 13 players.  Fontanna is hoping for a Rangers win, which would give their team 12 players in the Conference Finals, but if Washington wins, they'll have 10 players.
