Kadri's Season Ends on Suspension

After the decision from the NHL Department of Player Safety on Monday morning, Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri will sit out the remaining four games that are on the Maple Leafs schedule, thanks to a suspension garnered from a cross-checking play on Saturday night against the Red Wings.

The full decision video is posted down below, if you're looking to get more of the details on the play itself.

The season for Kadri has been filled with controversy, especially in the last week or so, as he remains a focal point of the Leafs' rebuilding franchise, both as a lightning rod of attention and a skilled player, hired to help the team succeed.

In the 2016 season, Kadri finished with 17 goals and 45 points in 76 games, which isn't by any means a bad season, especially given the circumstances of the team's lack of depth and help offensively for Kadri.  At the beginning of this week, the 25-year old was ranked 139th in pool scoring.

This suspension does hurt the chances of Kristy & Don's team, which was entering the week with the pool's best total of projected games, but it now takes a 4-game hit, as the duo vies for a money spot in the last week of the regular season.  Now the duo have a 7-game advantage over Brian, as they try and make up 7 points this week.  It's no easy task, but it's not impossible.
